Speaking at a joint opposition INDIA ALLIANCE protest rally at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on December 22, Gaurav Gogoi, the Deputy Leader of Lok Sabha of Congress Parliamentary Party issued a stark warning to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. Gogoi stated the need to address the suspension of 146 MPs from Parliament, warning that failure to do so could pose a serious danger to the country.
Gogoi asserted, "If the government believes that by suspending 144 MPs, they can instill fear and quell our resolve, they are mistaken. The INDIA ALLIANCE is neither afraid nor will it bow down. We are committed to fighting for the people of India, for justice, for farmers and for the underprivileged."
Drawing attention to a recent security lapse at the Parliament on December 13, Gogoi expressed disappointment at Home Minister Amit Shah's absence in Parliament and his failure to address the issue in a televised interview. He insisted, "The time has come to break down the ego of the Prime Minister and Home Minister. Ignoring the demands of the opposition poses a danger to our nation."
Gogoi pointed to various instances of perceived injustices, citing the division in Manipur, the case of wrestler Sakshi Malik from Haryana, and the widening gap between the rich and poor under the BJP government. He noted, "We have seen how farmers are being targeted and attacked, but today we salute the resilience of our farmers who fought against the three contentious agricultural laws and emerged victorious."
"We may face defeats, but we will not back down. The fight is in our DNA, in our history, and like a flood, we will continue to surge forward. We are thankful for the support of the people, especially the unemployed youths. The INDIA ALLIANCE is confident that, together, we will emerge victorious," Gogoi said.
