A massive fire broke out in the Tathawade area on Sunday night, triggered by a series of gas cylinder explosions. Fortunately, there were no reports of any casualties.
According to officials from the Pimpri-Chinchwad police, the incident occurred around 11:15 pm on October 8 when emergency services received information about four major gas cylinder blasts in the Tathawade area. These explosions caused nearby parked buses to catch fire.
Initial investigations suggest that the gas cylinders, stacked on a truck, were being filled with propylene gas from a tanker when the blasts occurred.
"We have reason to believe that the gas filling was being done illegally, and the individuals involved may have fled the scene after the blasts," mentioned a police officer.
The fire brigade responded swiftly to bring the fire under control, preventing further damage. Residents in the vicinity were shaken by the impact of the explosions and evacuated their homes and residential complexes.
Fortunately, despite the intensity of the fire and explosions, the gas tanker standing nearby did not explode. Authorities are now actively searching for those responsible for the unauthorized gas filling operation.
As investigations continue, the community in Tathawade remains thankful that there were no casualties in this alarming incident.
