Sikkim: Aligning with BJP offers more viable path to resolving longstanding grievances of state, claims Passang Sherpa

Passang Sherpa who recently joined the BJP said on February 29 that aligning with a national party like the BJP offers a more viable path to resolving the longstanding grievances of Sikkim. 

He cited the central government's authority over critical matters and the need for broader parliamentary support to enact significant change.

Sherpa, known for his advocacy for Sikkimese issues expressed optimism about the BJP's potential to address the longstanding concerns of the people of Sikkim.

Sherpa, speaking on his decision to join the BJP, highlighted the importance of incorporating Sikkimese issues into the BJP's manifesto. He emphasized that negotiations within the party would pave the way for addressing these concerns effectively. "We needed this. We finally did. I'm very hopeful," Sherpa remarked, underscoring his confidence in the BJP's ability to enact positive change in Sikkim.

Acknowledging the growing presence of the BJP in the state, Sherpa lauded the influx of individuals like Bhaichung Bhutia and DR Thapa who have been vocal advocates for Sikkim both locally and on the national stage. He expressed optimism about the unity within the party despite earlier indications of division, noting the collaborative efforts to address internal challenges and rally support from stakeholders.
