Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on behalf of the people of Sikkim.
He praised the Prime Minister for the progress the country has made under his leadership.
Tamang highlighted the transformation in the northeastern states since 2014 and thanked the Central Government for their efforts.
He mentioned that all eight northeastern states are now better connected to each other and neighbouring countries.
Tamang also invited the Prime Minister to Sikkim's 50th anniversary celebration on 16th May 2025, and Modi accepted the invitation.

Earlier, Chief Minister of Sikkim Prem Singh Tamang presented a comprehensive proposal for the development of a Himalayan Railway Line in a recent meeting with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi.
The proposed railway line would connect New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal to Rorathang in Sikkim, aiming to revolutionize transportation infrastructure in the region.
CM Tamang emphasized that it would not only improve transport links but also enhance defence capabilities, ensure year-round food supply, reduce costs, and stimulate local industry growth. The proposed railway line is envisioned as a strategic asset for the region, contributing significantly to socio-economic development and connectivity in the Himalayan region.
