On the concluding day of the Discover Rabong Cho-Dzo Fest 2025, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang made a series of pivotal announcements aimed at transforming the state's connectivity and tourism infrastructure.
The Chief Minister confirmed that the much-anticipated Siliguri (Sevok) to Sikkim railway project is on track for completion by 2027. Once operational, the rail link is expected to significantly enhance accessibility to the Himalayan state, providing a major boost to tourism and economic activities.
In addition, the CM unveiled plans for the construction of a new Melli to Singtam Highway, which is set to improve intra-state connectivity and ease vehicular movement within the region.
Meanwhile, ongoing maintenance work on National Highway 10 (NH10) is progressing steadily. Upon completion, the upgraded route is projected to reduce travel time between Siliguri and Sikkim to just two hours, greatly benefitting residents and tourists alike.
