Sikkim: Indian army defuses bomb on Teesta riverbank

In a critical operation that averted a potentially hazardous situation, the Indian Army's Bomb Disposal Team successfully defused a bomb discovered on the riverbank of the Teesta River at 20th Mile, Lower Bardang in East Sikkim.

The device was uncovered during routine inspections and was carefully disarmed by the specialized unit, ensuring the safety of the surrounding area.

According to army officials, the bomb is believed to be a remnant of the arms and ammunition lost during the catastrophic Glacial Lake flood in North Sikkim last year. The devastating flood swept away a significant amount of military equipment, and this recent discovery is thought to be part of that lost arsenal.

This incident closely follows a similar discovery made just a few days earlier in Melli, South Sikkim, where another bomb was found and neutralized.
