Guwahati, October 13, 2018:

The Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers of Indian Army has undertaken an ultra cycling expedition to mark its Platinum Jubilee.

The expedition is led by Lt Col Vishal Ahlawat with the goal to cover 25,000 km across length and breadth of the country on renowned golden quadrilateral.

The expedition is scheduled to be completed in two phases- Phase-1, North-South corridor to be followed by phase-2 East-West corridor.

As a part of second leg of phase-2, the team started from Kanyakumari on September 20, 2018. It reached Tinsukia on 10 Oct 2018 from Nizlaluk after covering a distance of 210 km in a day.  This phase of the expedition will terminate at Koteshwar on 27 Oct 2018 after covering a total distance of 3977 km in span of 38 days.

The team will attempt for Guiness World Record for two categories, first the longest distance cycling in one country and second fastest Golden Quadrilateral route covered by cycle besides two Limca Book Record for the fastest route covered on North-South corridor by cycling and fastest route covered on East-west corridor by cycling.
