BJP Government for Indigenous People, Claims Tripura CM Biplab

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government stands for the indigenous people.

While speaking about the government’s decision to help settle the indigenous Bru families, Deb said that the permanent solution on the Bru issue would send out a message throughout the country that this government stands for the indigenous people.

Thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, he said, “Many people including Himanta Biswa Sarma, Royal Scion Pradyot Kishore Dev Barman, IPFT leaders NC Debbarma and Mever Kumar Jamatia helped me in coming to a final point in this issue. Now, this will send a message to the entire country that the government of Tripura is working for the interest of indigenous people”.

Terming the pact signed under Union Minister Amit Shah’s supervision as a new year bonanza, he said that the decades-long plight of the Brus came to an end in this new year.

“Under the pact, Rs 600 crore has been sanctioned for the Bru people. There are also free facilities for them till two years from the settlement. The duty that is left over to Tripura government is to settle the refugees in several clusters across the state. That will be done within the stipulated period” added the Chief Minister.

Stressing on the problems of the Bru refugees, he said that due to their unfortunate fate they were forced to lead a life of refugees in their own country.

“Usually, nobody can be branded as refugees in their own country. They had no access to education, health or any other government schemes. This historic decision will, indeed, cherish smile in the faces of my Bru brothers and sisters” Biplab added.
