The Tripura Police arrested four Bangladeshi nationals early Saturday morning for illegally crossing into India from Dharmanagar under North District of Tripura.

As per Tripura Police, the four individuals were found loitering in Kumarghat of Unakoti District after reportedly entering the country through the border near a town in Bangladesh.

According to police reports, the group traveled in auto-rickshaws throughout the night, raising suspicion among the patrolling officers when they were eventually dropped off near the LIC office in Dharmanagar city.

“During interrogation, the group revealed that a man named Rubel from Dhaka had arranged their illegal entry into India. They had been promised employment opportunities in Bangalore, where they were supposed to receive payment upon joining work. The worsening economic situation in Bangladesh has reportedly led to an increasing number of people crossing into India in search of employment”, said Police.

Tripura Police has produced them before the court after their arrest, and legal action is being pursued against them.
