After nearly 15 days of waiting, a freight train carrying fuel is en route to Tripura as it has crossed the Jatinga Lumpur - New Harangajao section of Assam's Dima Hasao District.
Following a derailment incident between Jatinga Lumpur and New Harangajao in Assam, disruptions in goods trains have worsened the fuel crisis in Tripura. However, restoration efforts are currently underway.
Sabyasachi Dey, Chief Public Relations Officer of North Eastern Frontier Railway, stated that 49 Bogie Tank wagons for petroleum products (BTPN) have left Assam and successfully crossed the Jatinga Lumpur area.
“The freight train, consisting of 49 wagons (19 BTPN wagons of HSD or High-Speed Diesel and 30 BTPN wagons of MS or Motor Spirit/Petrol), crossed the Jatinga Lumpur - New Harangajao section of Assam's Dima Hasao District at 10:41 am today. The rake is moving towards Dharmanagar, Tripura,” said the official.
The second oil freight train also crossed the site at 1:57 pm, 25 wagons were for Dharmanagar and 25 for Moinarband, Silchar.
Meanwhile, another official from Tripura Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs has stated that the train is expected to reach the Dharmanagar depot by evening, which is anticipated to resolve the fuel crisis.
