The Designate-Governor of Telangana and former Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura, Jishnu Dev Varma, on July 31 stated that he would explore ways to work for the welfare of both Tripura and Telangana, after assuming the gubernatorial position.
Dev Varma made these remarks while leaving Agartala for Telangana to take the oath of office.
Speaking with reporters, Dev Varma said, “I want to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President of India Draupadi Murmu for appointing me as governor. This is the first time since independence that a governor has been appointed from Tripura.”
He also mentioned that he would be traveling to Telangana for the swearing-in ceremony and would leave for Delhi the next day to attend a meeting.
“Previously, I served as a minister, so this is my first experience in this role. Let's see what happens. I am going to Telangana and will explore what can be done for the development of Tripura. As the first Governor from Tripura, I will make sure to promote my state, and I will definitely look into what can be done for the state of Tripura,” he added.
