Tripura BJP leaders to visit Gonda Twisa after youth’s death sparks protests, orders aid

In response to a recent protest following the death of a young man in Gonda Twisa, Tripura BJP President Rajib Bhattacharya announced on July 13 that the government is closely monitoring the situation. A team of ministers and BJP leaders is scheduled to visit the Gonda Twisa sub-division in Dhalai District in Tripura to assess the situation and assist the victims.

The unrest erupted late Friday night after Parameswar Reang, a youth, allegedly died from an assault by a group of youths at a fair. The incident led to widespread protests, resulting in the arson of several shops and houses in the area. The police have arrested four individuals in connection with Reang's death.

Reacting to the incident, Bhattacharya expressed his sorrow, stating, "This is indeed a sad incident and should not have happened. I have discussed the matter with local leaders, and Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha is also closely monitoring the situation." He further mentioned that additional security forces have been deployed to maintain order. "A team of ministers and BJP leaders will rush to the spot and direct the administration to look into how we can help the victims," Bhattacharya added.

As of the latest update, the administration, including police and civil authorities, has been working diligently to restore peace and maintain law and order in the area. The situation is currently reported to be under control.
