Tripura CM Manik Saha flags off road safety initiative, focuses on infrastructure and training

In a significant move to enhance road safety and improve transportation infrastructure, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha attended a road safety programme organized by the state's transport department in Agartala. The event saw the flagging off of 16 new vehicles, part of a broader effort to bolster traffic management and transportation services across the state.

Addressing the gathering, CM Saha emphasized the importance of road safety, acknowledging that the programme was initially delayed due to recent flooding in the region. "The road safety initiative should have been launched earlier, but due to the flood situation, it is being conducted today," he explained.

The Chief Minister announced the deployment of eight interceptor vehicles for the police and traffic authorities, while the remaining eight have been allocated to various transport offices across the state. This strategic step is intended to strengthen the overall transportation framework in Tripura.

In a bid to further promote safe driving practices, CM Saha also inaugurated a driving school that aims to provide comprehensive training. "A driving school has been established where women have already received training and certificates have been issued," Saha said, underscoring the government's commitment to improving road safety awareness and infrastructure development.

The initiative marks a pivotal moment in Tripura's transport sector, with an emphasis on long-term infrastructure improvements and public safety.
