Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, on December 10 inspected key venues in Agartala ahead of the 72nd Plenary Session of the North East Council (NEC), which will be held in Tripura for the first time on December 21.
Union Home Minister and NEC Chairman Amit Shah is scheduled to arrive in the state on December 20 for the event.
The chief minister visited the Ujjayanta Palace and Pragya Bhavan to assess the ongoing preparations and issued necessary directives to officials on-site.
Speaking to reporters, CM Saha said, “The 72nd Plenary Session of the NEC will be hosted by Tripura this year. Special arrangements are being made, including a grand event at Ujjayanta Palace. I have personally reviewed the progress of preparations here and at Pragya Bhavan, where the main session will take place. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, along with Union DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, chief ministers, deputy chief ministers, and Governors of Northeastern states, will attend the session.”
He added that discussions will focus on regional development and various ongoing and upcoming projects. The North Eastern-Space Applications Centre (NE-SAC) meeting will also coincide with the event.
“This is a moment of great pride for Tripura as we host such a significant gathering. The discussions will further accelerate developmental initiatives in the Northeast,” Dr. Saha remarked.
He also shared details of his recent interaction with Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and his son, Anant Ambani, during an event in Maharashtra.
“I invited them to visit Tripura, and they expressed genuine interest. A Reliance team is expected to visit soon. The discussions were positive, and we are optimistic about their plans,” he said.
