Tripura floods: Manik Saha conducts aerial survey, reaffirms support for victims

Amid the devastating floods in Tripura, Chief Minister Manik Saha conducted a comprehensive aerial survey of severely impacted regions, reaffirming the state government's commitment to aiding flood-affected residents.

CM Saha embarked on a comprehensive aerial survey of Shantirbazar, Belonia, Matabari, Melaghar, Charilam, Bishalgarh, Amarpur, Karbook, and Agartala in the South, Gomati, and West districts, via an MI-17 helicopter from MBB Airport early morning.

The chief minister made personal visits to relief camps in Gomati district, including Khilpara Higher Secondary School and Khilpara Market Shed, to evaluate the ongoing relief operations.

In Shantirbazar under South District, he assessed the banks of the Laugang and Muhuri rivers before visiting the relief camp at West Bokafa XII School.

Speaking to reporters, CM Saha highlighted the continuous efforts by the state government to provide immediate and sustained support to those affected by the floods.

“Our ministers, MLAs, and officials are actively engaged on the ground, ensuring relief and assistance reach those in need. I am grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for their proactive support in deploying NDRF teams, helicopters, boats, and essential supplies,” Saha said.

As flood victims deal with losses, Saha reassured the public that measures are being taken to address concerns, such as the loss of important documents.

He directed officials to provide necessary assistance in helping citizens recover from the crisis. High-ranking officials from the Tripura government accompanied him during the visit, underscoring the administration's all-hands-on-deck approach to managing the disaster.

The flood has gravely affected Tripura's Gomati, South and West Districts since the floods on August 19. Meanwhile, the flood situation in the state began to improve from Thursday, as no rainfall was recorded until Friday.
