Assam's eminent sculptor and artist of repute, Biren Singha, has sculpted a statue of Dipanjal Das, who was martyred during firing by police during the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act in Guwahati, on December 12.
At the “Rong Tukila Kabitare Protibad”, a protest programme organized under the banner of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), Biren Singha was seen sculpting the Assam martyr.

Born in 1951 in Chhaygaon, Assam, Biren Singha is one of the finest artists and sculptors that Assam has known. Growing up in abject poverty, Singha initially designed signboards, hoardings, film posters, and book covers before moving on to fine-art and sculpture.
Biren Singha has spent nearly three decades studying life in the hills of Karbi Anglong, Assam. Around 200 of his bronze and fiberglass sculptures beautify Guwahati city and several other parts of Assam.
His first sculpture was of Rongpharpi Rongbe of Karbi Anglong at Diphu. He has also acted as an art director on feature films such as Pani, Jirsong and The Untold Story of Blue Hills.
One of the famous testimonies of his work is the statue of Bhupen Hazarika installed at Bolung near Roing.

It may be mentioned here Dipanjal Das was martyred during the protest against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Bill turned act on December 12 after the armed forces opened fire on the protesters in the Lachit Nagar area. He was rushed immediately to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where he succumbed to his injuries.
