A 52-year-old woman who was admitted in the ICU in North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) lost her life as surgery could not be performed following the turmoil going on in the hospital.
The woman was admitted on May 5 following a heart attack but the surgery was not performed. As a result of this, her situation deteriorated and she was put on life support.
It is to be mentioned that the NEIGRIHMS is undergoing turmoil as the head of the cardiology department Animesh Mishra is allegedly at loggerheads with the Director of the prestigious institute, DM Thappa.
In a statement, Public relation officer, Dr. KK Pandita stated that the head of the cardiology department, Dr. Animesh Mishra had refused to cooperate with the administration regarding the issue and to make treatment to poorer patients affordable.
