The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) organizes Rozgar Melas across India to provide employment opportunities in the private sector to unemployed youth.
Rozgar Melas contribute to parallel growth in the private and industrial sectors, with government and corporate collaborations.
A Rozgar Mela is a 1/2-day event where employers and job seekers come together for job applications and interviews.
NSDC collaborates with Sector Skill Councils (SSCs) and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras (PMKKs) to source employers for the Rozgar Melas.
Each Rozgar Mela features around 40-50 employers from high economic growth sectors based on youth aspirations and industry availability.
The target age group for Rozgar Melas is 18-35 years, and participants include candidates with various academic qualifications and skills.
Job seekers are informed and mobilized through different channels such as print advertisements, bulk SMS, social media, and workshops.
Alongside the Rozgar Melas, other activities like counseling sessions, Kaushal Melas for skill development training registration, Mudra Loan facilitation counters, and skill exhibitions take place.
Besides NSDC, Sector Skill Councils, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra, and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana Training Partners also conduct Rozgar Melas nationwide.
From January 2019 to December 2019, over 700 Rozgar Melas were organized in 28 states/UTs, resulting in approximately 2.18 lakh registrations and around 93,000 candidates being selected by private companies.
