Bhaleydhunga Ropeway is located in Yangang, South Sikkim.The starting point is Dhapper, approximately 5 km above Yangang Bazar.
The ropeway leads to the top of Bhaleydhunga cliff.Offers a spectacular panoramic view of Mt. Kanchenjunga.Beautiful snowfall in winter and blooming flowers during the spring season can be enjoyed.
Traditionally, Bhaleydhunga is reached by trekking from Yangang or Ravangla in South Sikkim.The ropeway is expected to be opened to the public and tourists in 2023 under the Tourism & Civil Aviation Department, Government of Sikkim.
The name Bhaleydhunga comes from Nepali, meaning "Male Peasant Stone."Folklore tells a tragic love story of two Kalij Pheasants, leading to the destruction of the village.
The village of Bhaleydhunga, once happy, faced tragedy due to superstition and ignorance.The story involves the killing of a female pheasant, triggering a catastrophic landslide and the destruction of the settlement.The male pheasant's continuous crowing expresses his unrequited love.
Ropeway length: 3.5 km (approx).18 cabins with 8 sitting capacity each
Due to the spiritual value, visitors are requested to follow certain guidelines.No alcohol, parties, or plastic wastage.Maintain silence and avoid loud music.
