Biju Phukan - A stalwart we miss

Assam is observing the death anniversary of late Assamese actor, theatre person Biju Phukan today. 

Biju Phukan

Born on 18th February 1947, Biju Phukan was 69 when he died on 22nd November 2017, as he was suffering from cardiac ailments. 

Stalwart

An acclaimed actor, Phukan appeared in more than 80 Assamese feature films before his death and also acted in a number of plays.

Shining Star

His first movie was Dr.Bezbarua in 1970 and his first role as a leading actor was in Baruar Songsar followed by Aranya in 1971 which established him as a hero in 1971. 

Hit movies

The song ‘Mon Hira Doi’ from the film Bowari of 2015 which showed him singing topped the music charts.

Popular Song

Nip Baruah-directed Anthony Mor Naam in 1986, that made the actor a cult figure in Assamese cinema. His demise has been the greatest loss of all . He will always be remembered and honoured for his astonishing skills.
