Traditional methods to keep houses cool in summers

Use indoor plants like spider plant, aloe vera, snake plant, gerbera daisies to purify the air indoors. Use plants near sitting areas and workstations to keep cool

Hang wet mats or sheets on windows/doors at night time or afternoon, so that cool air can  come in

Place a bowl of ice in front of a table fan, it will give out cool air and keep your surroudings cool

Switch off lights when not in use. Use LED lights instead of bright, yellow lights

A good ventilated room allows cool air to pass. Keep your doors and windows open in early morning and late evening for the air then is pleasantly cool

Dampen your curtains, bedsheets and hung them on windows and doors to let cool air pass through

Use cotton bedsheets instead of polyester, satin or silk ones. Also lighter shades of bedsheets, window curtains and also night wears absorb less heat, making you feel lighter

Mud is a bad conductor of heat. Hence during summers, the temperature inside the mud remains cool in a mud house thus keeping the entire house cool
