A teenage freedom fighter who was shot and killed by the British police during the Quit India Movement of 1942. She was a member of the "Mrityu Bahini", a group of young people from Gohpur, Assam.

Kanaklata Barua

A prominent leader in the freedom struggle, she was involved in the Non-Cooperation Movement and the Civil Disobedience Movement of 1930. She was the first Assamese woman to be imprisoned for her activism.

An independence activist and politician who served as Assam's first Chief Minister from 1946 to 1950.

Krishna Nath Sarma

A Gandhian who participated in the Quit India Movement as a student and was imprisoned for seven months in Jorhat jail. He founded the Assam Rajyik Mukti Joddha Sanmilan.

A freedom fighter from Panigaon, Lakhimpur, who took part in the Quit India Movement. He was honoured by the President of India in 2014.
