Himalayan black bears are primarily found in the high-altitude forests of the Himalayas, from Afghanistan to Arunachal Pradesh.
They are omnivores, consuming a variety of foods including fruits, berries, nuts, insects, small mammals, and even honey.
During the harsh winter months, these bears hibernate in deep dens to conserve energy.
Himalayan black bears are smaller than brown bears and have a distinctive black coat with a white crescent-shaped marking on their chest.
Due to habitat loss, poaching, and illegal trade in bear parts, the Himalayan black bear is listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List.
