This two-part crime thriller by Anurag Kashyap is some of the best work in crime thrillers from Bollywood. Set in a small, criminal town of Wasseypur in Bihar, GoW is the story of the crime, politics, hilarity, and relationships that take place between gangs in this city.

Talaash

Another one of 2012’s Bollywood hits, Talaash is an Aamir Khan-starrer in one of his most unique roles to date. With Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor also in lead roles, the movie follows the story of a famous film actor who starts investigating a mysterious car accident involving his wife, only to be drawn into a supernatural world.

One of the best black comedy thrillers to come out of Bollywood, Andhadhun is director Sriram Raghavan’s 2018 masterpiece. The film stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Tabu, and Radhika Apte in lead roles and follows the story of a blind pianist who finds himself at the centre of a series of mysterious and gruesome events.

Another one of Ayushmann Khurrana’s hits in the recent past is Article 15. This crime drama, co-written and directed by Anubhav Sinha, is loosely based on true events and stars the actor as a police officer investigating a brutal crime in rural India.

The Hindi version of the Malayalam superhit film Drishyam stars Ajay Devgn in the lead role. It is the story of a man who must use his high wit to save his family from a crime at all costs.

Raat Akeli Hai is a 2020 crime drama that has been bankrolled by Ronnie Screwvala and stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Radhika Apte, Shweta Tripathi, and Tigmanshu Dhulia in prominent roles. 

Manorama: Six Feet Under

With Abhay Deol, Raima Sen, and Gul Panag in lead roles, Manorama: Six Feet Under is the story of a small-town government surveyor, Manorma, who becomes embroiled in a series of events when he takes on a high-paying job to survey a wealthy businessman’s land, as he realises the quicksand he has gotten himself stuck into. 

Shootout at Lokhandwala

Based on the true story of the 1991 Lokhandwala Complex shootout, a battle between gangsters and Mumbai police, Shootout at Lokhandwala is a solid thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seats throughout the entire sequence. 

Vadh

Vadh is a one-of-its-kind crime thriller drama from Bollywood, which brings together the interesting pairing of Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta in the lead. This is the story of a man who leaves for better fortunes to the US, while his old parents in India deal with an unrelenting loan shark who wouldn’t give up without taking their money.
