Vivian Mary Hartley was born on November 5, 1913 on the campus of St. Pauls School, Darjeeling. According to a report in The North-East India, she studied at Loreto Convent School in Darjeeling. She is popular for her role as Southern belle Scarlett OHara in Gone with the Wind (1939) which won her an Academy Award for Best Actress.
