Guru Nanak's mother, Tripta, was a devout woman, while his father, Kalyan Chand, worked as an accountant for a local Muslim landlord.
He was married to Sulakhni and had two sons, Sri Chand and Lakhmi Das.
During his lifetime, he appointed a successor, leading to a lineage of nine more Gurus, culminating with Guru Gobind Singh.
His compositions reflect his familiarity with Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, Yogi, and Nath traditions, demonstrating his intention to connect with a diverse audience.
His parents named him after his older sister, Nanaki
