Ten Migratory Birds that visit India during December

It visits the lowland grasslands in north India. They are found in water bodies and marshes for about five months.

Black-tailed Godwit

They can be spotted in the Keoladeo Ghana National Park in Rajasthan during this time of the year.

Siberian Crane

It is a seasonal visitor to peninsular India and visits for breeding. It loves to feast on the Indian dragonfly.

Blue-tailed Bee-Eater

It can be spotted in Rajasthan during winters. While it resembles a sparrow, it is distinguished by its  blue throat.

Bluethroat

The brown duck is spotted in north and central India, with it most commonly spotted in Bhopal.

Gadwall

These beautiful birds can be spotted at Nal Sarovar Bird Sanctuary, the Flamingo City and the Thol Bird Sanctuary of Gujarat.

Greater Flamingo

These birds make a stopover at India during its journey down south. It stops by at the wetlands at the south of Himalayas in the course of its journey.

Northern Shoveler

It settles for the winters in freshwater lakes. While most of them are found in Pakistan, some of them move over to India and Nepal as well.

Rosy Pelican

These birds move to India for their breeding season, after which they move back to the freezing Tundra region. 

Ruff

They can be spotted in the marshy landscapes of Haryana before back home at the onset of summer.
