Initially, bay leaves and fenugreek seeds are sifted into a vessel with heated oil until they crackle.
Slices of onions are sauteed until translucent, followed by the addition of a paste made from chopped ginger and garlic. The mixture is cooked until done.
Papaya cubes are then added to the spice mixture and stirred until the spices blend with the papaya.
Salt, an optional pinch of turmeric, and chillies are added, and the mixture is stirred and covered for 2-3 minutes.
Finally, 3/4th cup of Khar and 2 cups of warm water are added and simmered until the papaya softens.
