Fresh violence broke out in Manipur's Churachandpur district during ATSUM's rally 

ATSUM, the apex tribal body of Manipur had called for a solidarity rally on May 3 protesting against the demand for inclusion of Meitei community in ST list

It is estimated that more than 60,000 people gathered to be part of the rally, extending support to ATSUM against the demand of Meitei's inclusion in ST list

As per reports, a hill based community allegedly targeted a particular community's youths on the road. Following the incident, state security forces rushed to the spot as some property of certain communities were torched

Group of unruly protesters damaged public property and even tore the hoardings of the recently concluded Hun-Thadou festival in Manipur

In the wake of fresh violence in Manipur's Churachandpur district, the state government ordered the suspension of internet services for five days. All mobile service providers have been directed to ensure compliance with this order

Additionally, curfew orders have been clamped in various hill districts of Manipur by the district administrations

In the wake of the prevailing law and order situation, the Manipur government on May 3, imposed Section 144 CrPc in eight districts of the state which includes Bishnupur, Pherzawl, Jiribam, West Imphal, Thoubal, Tengnoupal, Kakching, and Kangpokpi.
