Stairway to Heaven: Meghalaya's Bamboo Trek

One of the most spectacular and scariest treks in India is Meghalaya's Mawryngkhang Trek.

Visitors walking on the route will find heading towards bamboo bridges hanging precariously over mountain ridges, deep gorges, and rivers

Mawryngkhang rock is also known as the 'King of Stones', one of the largest standalone rock in Meghalaya

It takes nearly four to five hours to go around this bamboo trek.

The trek is often termed as 'scary' as it goes over steep slopes, rocks and narrow bamboo bridges which are suspended hundreds of feet about the ground

The trek though 'scary' gives trekkers a delightful treat to their eyes with clouds rolling and a the picturesque blue and green hills around.

Few even call this bamboo trail as the 'stairway to heaven'
