Manipur killings, 2010 A total of Manipur policemen, including an inspector, surrendered before the Imphal West chief judicial magistrate in February 2020 in connection with the alleged fake encounter of Irengbam Ratankumar on September 2010. The case was among more than 1,500 extrajudicial killings by the Manipur Police and security forces. In May 2019, the SIT of the CBI submitted a charge sheet against the police personnel.

Alleged rapists encounter Hyderabad, 2019 The Telangana police shot dead four alleged rapists and murderers for allegedly burning to death a veterinarian doctor in Hyderabad in December 2019. The police claimed they had to open fire in self-defence as the four men tried to escape and began pelting stones.

Bhopal encounter, 2016 A total of eight people associated with the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) allegedly escaped from the Bhopal Central Jail. Later, all of them were shot dead by the state police. As per reports, the deceased persons were asked to surrender, but, instead, began firing at the police and public. Following this, the police had to open fire.

Batla House, 2008 There is a film on this encounter which took place in Delhi in 2008. On September 19, 2008, a Delhi Police special team carried out an encounter in Batla House in Jamia Nagar, where two suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorists were killed along with inspector Mohan Chand Sharma.

Sohrabuddin Sheikh, 2006 As per CBI, Sheikh was a wanted criminal who extorted money from marble traders in Gujarat and Rajasthan. On the other hand, the Gujarat Police claimed he was a Lashkar-e-Taiba operative. In November 2006, Sheikh ad his wife Kausar Bi were travelling from Hyderabad to Sangli in Maharashtra when the Gujarat Police Anti-Terror Squad intercepted them and took them to a farmhouse. Reports claimed that three days later, Sheikh was killed in the police encounter.

Ishrat Jahan, 2004 The Gujarat Police on June 15, 2004, killed 19-year-old Ishrat Jahan and three others on the outskirts of Ahmedabad in an alleged encounter. According to the police, all four were operatives of the Lashkar-e-Taiba who had a plan to kill then-Gujarat CM Narendra Modi.

Veerappan, 2004 In October 2004, the Veerappan, infamous for elephant poaching, kidnapping, and sandalwood smuggling, was shot dead in an encounter by the Tamil Nadu Special Task Force. Veerappan had been on the run for a decade and fall into a police trap as he needed to visit the hospital in Salent for his eye. Over 300 bullets were fired at the ambulance putting an end to Veerappan's terror.
