This is the traditional dress worn by women in Sikkim. It consists of a colorful, wrap-around garment that is fastened with a silk or cotton belt called a kera. The upper part is adorned with intricate embroidery, and it is often paired with a matching blouse.
Kho is the traditional dress worn by Sikkimese men. It is a knee-length, wrap-around garment made of wool or silk, secured with a belt. It is usually worn with a shirt or a traditional jacket called a tharo over it.
Though primarily worn by men in neighboring Nepal, the Daura-Suruwal is also seen among certain communities in Sikkim, especially the Limbu and Tamang tribes. It consists of a long-sleeved shirt (daura) and trousers (suruwal), often accompanied by a waistcoat (cholo) and a traditional hat (topi).
The Thokro-Dum is the primary outfit for the Lepcha community members. Usually, the Lepcha bread makers sport this. It consists of a white pyjama stretching up to the calves, almost resembling a karate player's outfit. Yenthatse, a Lepcha shirt and Shambo, an embroidered cap are paired with it.
The traditional attire of Lepcha women involves a sari-like garment known as Dumvum or Dumyam. It is an ankle-length outfit, silky and smooth binding comfort and culture together. Underneath, a loose-fitting blouse in a contrasting colour is worn known as Tago.
