Celebrated along with the Nongkrem Dance Festival, this ritualistic ceremony involves the sacrifice of a goat to appease the goddess Ka Blei Synshar. It’s an ancient tradition conducted by the royal family of the Khasi tribe, symbolizing the strength and power of the Khasi Kingdom.
Another important Khasi festival, the Nongkrem Dance is a harvest celebration to thank the gods for a bountiful harvest and to pray for peace and prosperity. This festival is conducted by the Syiem (King) of Khyrim, with elaborate dances performed by men and women.
