Originally an unnamed tanker built in 1979, it underwent 'jumboization' in 1981 which involved adding a new mid-section increasing its overall length to over 458 meters

Class of 4 ultra-large crude carriers built between 1976-1978. At the time of their construction, they were the largest and longest ships ever built per original plans

Identical sister ships launched in 1977, they had a capacity of over 516,000 DWT each.
