Assam men detained on suspicion of being Bangladeshi; Delhi Police investigates in Bongaigaon

Two youths from Assam have been detained in Delhi on suspicion of being an illegal Bangladeshi immigrant, prompting a Delhi Police team to visit Bhawlaguri under the Bongaigaon Sadar police station area.

The police team is currently seeking confirmation of the detainee’s address and identity. 

Officials have been questioning locals and have visited the residences of Tarachand Khan and Gafoor Ali to verify details.

As part of the investigation, the police collected various documents from the families to corroborate the detainee’s identity.

Speaking to the media, one of the locals said, "One of our youth Gafoor Ali and Tarachand Khan came to their respective residences and searched for their respective documents. The police suspected them to be Bangladeshi."

The inquiry is ongoing, with the authorities aiming to clarify the individual’s citizenship status.
